The goal of Urban Accessibility Plan is to identify the points of the required configurations, interventions and constructions and the accessible linear routes between them in order to create at the municipality level a network of accessible movements at the beginning of the “accessible chain” to basic common and public uses. People with reduced mobility, the blind, in general all disabled people benefit, but also all vulnerable road users (mainly pedestrians) whose unimpeded, safe and sustainable mobility within the city is now ensured with the Urban Accessibility Plan.
The main actions of the Urban Accessibility Plan include:
- Provision of a free zone for pedestrians and the blind
- Creation of flat, continuous, stable, non-slip surfaces, which does not burden the walking and rolling of the wheelchair
- Provision of ramps of appropriate specifications at the points where it is required to connect the level of the sidewalk with the level of the road surface
- Traffic signs
- Reservations and pedestrian crossing
- Green areas
- Special parking spaces for vehicles of disabled persons
- Suitable connection with a ramp of suitable specifications of the level of the parking area with any adjacent pavement
