A transportation case study was carried out in three settlements of Zagori, namely Papigo, Dilofo, and Tsepelovo, as well as in their wider environment.
The main actions include:
- Overview of the functionality of the existing road network between the selected settlements, as well as within these settlements, particularly with regard to the possibility of movement of supply or emergency vehicles to and from the nearest urban center
- Overview of available parking spaces for residents and visitors and their location suitability. Checking their adequacy based on available demand data and pre-estimating and evaluating possible risks from the coming climate change for the settlements and their wider area, due to characteristics of the road network, traffic load, or difficult accessibility.
- Proposals for improvements to the existing road infrastructure and the parking network, as well as proposals for additional measures and regulations and/or studies with the aim of optimal adaptation and strengthening the resilience of the area to the risks of upcoming climate change.
