The construction of a private clinic on Leoforos Athinon in Athens required modifications on the current urban plan and change of land. To confirm that these changes would not result to new traffic demands or burdens on the area’s road network, the ScienTra team carried out a traffic impact study. The purpose of the study was to assess the traffic impacts by evaluating the changes and burdens caused by the new clinic on the road network and the overall traffic flow in the area of interest.
Main actions include:
- Documentation of the current situation in the study area
- Data collection through field measurements (traffic volumes, turning movements, traffic composition)
- Estimation of the travels’ origin
- Calculation of levels of service
- Assessment of traffic impacts
- Presentation of conclusions and evaluation of traffic impacts
