The object of this study is the investigation and the definition of traffic requirements for the safe transit of oversized vehicles transporting wind turbines to the wind park in “Tsirifi”, Municipality of Erymanthos, Regional Unit of Achaia.
Main actions include:
- Onsite inspection of two routes (Patras Promenade and Patras Ring Road) and data processing
- Description of the whole process of transporting oversized equipment
- Control of critical intersections and heavy vehicle tracks using special software (Autoturn)
- Complete mapping of existing road infrastructure elements that will be potential obstacles
- Investigation of the possibility of temporary removal of transport elements and/or urban equipment elements due to vehicle dimensions, e.g. traffic lights, street lighting, etc. and parallel arrangements to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow.
- Proposals for optimal timing of the transport process, e.g. transit times, calculation of other traffic delays, etc.
- Investigation and documentation of necessary traffic arrangements, e.g. temporary traffic stops, diversion of flows, etc.
- Measures and means of protection for both carriers and equipment, and for citizen drivers of Patras
- Measures and means of protection for the drivers and the citizens of Patras
- Creation of relevant maps and visualization of the information
